Very nice all original Mitchell duck from the 1960’s. Distinctive body shape and appears to be original paint. This was a rig duck and shows a few bumps and scuffs, many shot holes from use but overall intact and very good for the era. Solid body full size. 15” long approx. 1901-1993 – R Madison Mitchell – Bufflehead Drake Wooden Working Decoy 1960’s
1960’s Upper Bay duck decoy attributed to Madison Mitchell by a local expert. Has an old working repaint. Shows gunning wear and has been in the water. Rig weight and eye are intact. Head has cracks and paint crackling from what appears to be an old rig repair and touchup. Overall shows even gunning wear and marks to paint. From a local Kent County collection from an iconic Upper Bay carver. Full size solid body coming in at approx 15”.

The decoy is in good condition for a gunner, stress crack to right side of head, a knot on left shoulder side and stain and wear from use to body. Keep in mind this was a decoy used for hunting.
